Year 6

Welcome to Year 6!

We thoroughly hope that all our Year 6 pupils have a fun-filled, engaging and inspirational Year 6. The Year 6 team supporting the pupils to reach their potential this year are as follows:

Mrs Ghosh (Year Group Leader and teacher of 6 Asher-Smith),

Mrs Moore (Class 6 Mo Farah),

Mrs Stuart-Williams (Class 6 Pietersen),

Mr Brennan (HLTA),

and our key worker is Mrs Hack.

During the year we will visit a variety of inspiring topics for the children to get their teeth into! We will jump-start the year with Shakespeare, which will be followed by Crime & Punishment, Pollution, The Blitz and Healthy Body, Healthy Minds. Learning will stem from these topics into a variety of subjects across the curriculum including Reading, English and Science. We have exciting novels to share with the pupils to ensure, not only children fully immerse themselves into the topic, but they develop reading for pleasure too.

The learning journey our Year 6 pupils take this year is an important one. The lessons prepared and knowledge imparted are all in aid of supporting their education beyond primary school and into secondary school.  A key focus is to prepare children for SATs week in May. This will run from 9th – 12th May 2023. By the end of Year 6, children will be fully ready to take on their next challenge into secondary school!

We are all looking forward to an enjoyable and positive year!
