Safeguarding

At Western House Academy we are unwaveringly committed to keeping our children safe and protecting them from harm.

Therefore we have a responsibility to consider the wellbeing of all children in school. We are attentive and mindful to what our children and families are telling us and we are vigilant and observant of what we might see that may indicate they are at risk of harm or indeed have been exposed to long term harm.

In most situations, any matter of concern identified can be communicated and addressed with parents and carers directly. We recognise that these can be difficult conversations to have but we have a duty of care to raise concerns and pursue actions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children. We know this is vitally important to our parents and carers as well and it is key that we work together to the benefit of the children. In the best interests of the children, we hope that we are able to have an open and honest conversation, should the need arise.

In certain circumstances, we will share concerns with external agencies in accordance with local safeguarding procedures. This would mean we will be in contact with Slough Children First  who would provide specialist advice as to whether the concern requires further investigation or action.

If your child is currently having any support from any outside agencies that we have not organised, please can you inform us as soon as possible so that we can make contact with them and offer any additional support that we can.

All staff at Western House Academy are fully trained in safeguarding practices in an education setting and this is essential as safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility. There is a dedicated safeguarding team that has the responsibility of working with external agencies and has additional training in more specific areas of concern that may arise.

If you have any questions, queries or concerns then please don’t hesitate to contact Mr Jones (Designated Safeguarding Lead) on 01753 526326 or email dprincipal1wha@theparkfederation.org. If you have concerns about a child or children who do not attend Western House Academy then please call Slough Children First on 01753 875362 (out of hours: 01344 786543).

Working together, we will keep our children safe and happy.
