Welcome to Year 4!
The year 4 team consists of the following class teachers: 4 Riley is taught by Mrs Parmar (Year Team Leader), 4 Hambling by Miss Poynter and 4 DeSozer are taught by Mr Olney and Mrs Goody. Our specially trained HLTA is Mrs Sahota. Our key workers include Mrs Adams, Mrs Ali, Mrs Mruk and Mrs Zoofer. The team are a vibrant group of enthusiastic teachers who collectively have a wide range of expertise and wealth of experience. This benefits the children in the year group greatly as we prepare a creative curriculum which delivers the skills, knowledge and creates a passion for learning.
Over the course of the year, we will be covering a wide range of topics in our PBL (Project Based Learning). We will be examining the notion of what it means to be ‘heroic’ and look at historical figures who made a significant contribution within a specific time period. We will be using our geographical skills to study ‘rivers and coasts’ and look at the impact a river has on its surroundings as well as the impact it has had on societies and settlements across various historical periods. This leads nicely into learning about Roman Britain and how life in Britain changed as a result of the invasion and settlement of the Romans. In Art we will explore the life and artwork of Georges Seurat. He is a fascinating French painter who created a new way of painting by looking at the science of colours and how our eyes views and deciphers colours. In Science we will be looking at the how we classify living things according to different characteristics. We will also study animals including humans and focus on the teeth structure in humans, states of matter to focus on the relationship between solids, liquids and gases and sound and electricity.
Our Childhood Promise Trip for the year will be a trip to West Wittering Beach in the Summer Term. It promises to be a fun and memorable day out. We look forward to a successful year ahead!
