Nursery
Wild Encounters: Nursery’s 10 by 10 Animal Experience 🌿
As part of Nursery’s 10 by 10 program, we welcome a hands-on animal encounter that offers children an unforgettable learning adventure. This exciting event gives young learners the opportunity to observe and interact with a variety of fascinating creatures up close.
The session begins with eager anticipation as animal handlers introduce each special visitor. Children learn fun facts, ask questions, and observe unique behaviors. Throughout the experience, students actively practice core school values—demonstrating respect for living things, courage when meeting new species, and curiosity about the natural world.
During the visit, young explorers get to meet a wonderful lineup of creatures, including:
-
Geckos, learning about their scales and habitats
-
Tree frogs, observing their bright colors and climbing skills
-
Tarantulas, discovering the gentle nature of arachnids
-
Guinea pigs, enjoying soft, friendly interactions
-
Corn snakes, feeling how reptiles move
-
Gerbils, watching their energetic antics
This interactive visit serves as a brilliant catalyst for language development and personal growth. Touching and observing the animals sparks lively conversations and teaches children essential lessons in empathy, gentleness, and care for all living things.
Adding to the Adventure: The Annual Petting Zoo Visit
To further enrich this experience and build on the children's learning, our Nursery students are also granted the special privilege of visiting the Petting Zoo at our annual Summer Fayre before the main event begins.
This exclusive access allows the children to interact with a wider variety of animals in a calm, controlled environment. They get to practice their developing skills in gentle interaction and care with creatures of different sizes and temperaments. This visit perfectly complements the chick-hatching project by broadening their exposure to the animal kingdom, reinforcing the lessons they've learned about responsibility, empathy, and respect for all living things. It’s always a delightful and memorable way to celebrate the end of their foundational year.
