Year 5
From Page to Parliament: Our London Exploration
The annual London trip is always a spectacular adventure for our students, transforming their classroom learning into a real-world experience. This memorable outing is specifically designed to deepen their engagement with our class text, such as The London Eye Mystery, by allowing them to explore the sights of the capital.
The adventure always kicks off with a thrilling ride on the London Eye. From their vantage point high above the Thames, students are treated to spectacular panoramic views of the city. This experience isn't just about sightseeing; it’s an imaginative journey where they can spot famous landmarks and picture the very scenes from their class text unfolding beneath them.
After the ride, the group enjoys a well-deserved, relaxing picnic lunch in the beautiful surroundings of Jubilee Gardens, soaking up the atmosphere and the sunshine (hopefully!).
The day continues with a scenic River Thames cruise. Viewing the city from the water provides a unique and exciting perspective as the boat glides past iconic landmarks like Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, and Tower Bridge.
This day is consistently a blend of learning, fun, and imagination—a phenomenal opportunity that truly brings our classroom reading to life and creates cherished memories for every student.
Camping Adventure
The excitement was high as the children returned to school at 4:30pm, ready to begin their camping adventure. The evening kicked off with fun team-building games that helped everyone bond and work together. This was followed by a delicious BBQ that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
Once they had refuelled, the children worked together to set up their tents, showing great teamwork and independence. As night fell, it was time for the much-anticipated talent show – a brilliant display of creativity and confidence, with performances including singing, dancing, jokes, gymnastics, drama and much more!
To end the evening, the children gathered for hot chocolate and marshmallows, sharing stories and laughter, making lasting memories with their friends.
The next morning, they were treated to a beautiful sunrise and a calming yoga session with Mr Robinson – the perfect end to a fantastic camping experience!
