Week 7

Extra Maths During Lockdown

Some parents have been asking for more work for their child/ren. White Rose Maths is a scheme that some of our year groups already follow and they are providing daily maths work for children from Early Years - Year 8. Please follow the link below and click on the year group of your choice - you will then need to follow the instructions on that screen. Please be patient as this website does sometimes crash when there are too many people across the country trying to access it as it is such a great resource. Please note that there are no extra sheets available but during the video, there are chances for the child to practise what is being taught and then the teacher will go over through it.

When you go for a walk or when you play in your garden ask your adult if you can pick some flowers (daisies and buttercups are lovely) and press them between some tissues in the pages of an old book.

Put more books on top so that the flowers can be pressed flat.

Be patient but after a few weeks these flowers will have dried and you can make cards or bookmarks with them. Let us know what flowers you have used for this.

Writing

Listen to the story ‘Gorilla’ by Anthony Browne.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsZn210fGWo

(PARENTAL GUIDANCE NEEDED)

Now write your own version of the story, ‘Gorilla.’

Think of your favourite animal. Think of the adventures you would like to have with your favourite animal and write in detail using expanded noun phrases, different sentence types and conjunctions:

E.g.:  Many years ago there lived a little girl called Ann. She lived with her parents in a small town. She loved unicorns. She wrote stories about unicorns, drew pictures of unicorns and even sometimes tried to fly like a unicorn.

1.30-2.30pm

Creative Time

Sit at one side of a room in your home.  See if you can draw what you can see.

Now go and sit in a different place and draw those same things from a different position.

What has changed?

Can you see the back/front/side of things?
