In the information folder look at the Phase 2 and 3 sounds – what sounds do you know now?

Imagine you are on a train and looking out the window. What do you see?

Draw a picture of what you can see.

Writing book

Draw and write a list of a healthy packed lunch for the passengers to take on the train.

Remember to:

  • Use your phonics to segment and blend the words yourself.

Use your writing checklist (Capital letter, full stop, finger spaces, and number of words).

Research about lighthouses. Why do we need them? Who uses a lighthouse?

Draw a picture and describe what you have found.

Shadow Puppets: Can you use a torch to make shadow puppets by shining the light behind your hand? Are there places that work better than others? 

Can you see your shadow when in the garden? You can find some shadows of your toys and draw around them.

Using a mixture of shapes create your own train or lighthouse. What shapes do you need?

You could use building blocks, junk modelling, or draw it onto paper.

Writing book

What animals did you see in the story? Have you ever seen one of the animals in the book? Choose one animal and either draw and label its body parts or write a sentence to describe it.

Challenge: Create a “What am I” problem? Post it onto Tapestry and see if your teacher can guess the animal.
For example: I have 4 legs. I have 2 ears. I have fluffy wool. What am I?

Creative time

Make a train or train track scene with your toys. Can you create different stops along the way? You could create your own train tickets to give to the passengers.
