Week 5 – Friday 8th May

Phonics

Complete the next page of your phonics book.

In the information folder look at the Phase 2 and 3 sounds – what sounds do you know now?

 

Creative

Decorate your house in Red, White and Blue. You could make some Bunting or some Posters to celebrate.

Cooking

Bake some cupcakes or decorate some biscuits with Red white a blue icing. Can you share them equally between your family members?

Have a picnic for lunch! Can you share the food equally between your family members?

In the information folder look at the 100 HFW’s. How many do you know? How many of them can you spell?

Writing book

Draw a picture of a knight, prince, princes or giant.

Label your picture or write a sentence to describe them. Can you use adjectives to add detail?

 

Remember to:

  • Use your phonics to segment and blend the words yourself. For example: “She has long hair.” This sentence is using the sounds that we have learnt so far. 
  • Use your writing checklist (Capital letter, full stop, finger spaces, and number of words).

10.30 – 11.30

Creative time

Dress up as a knight or a princess. Go on your own adventure. Make some story props to help tell a story – for example you could make a sword and a shield, or a crown.

Writing book

Research some castles on the internet. Draw and write about a castle. What does it look like? Who lives in a castle? Have you ever seen a castle?

  • Use your phonics to segment and blend the words yourself. For example: “My bed has pritee culers.” This sentence is using the sounds that we have learnt so far. 
  • Use your writing checklist (Capital letter, full stop, finger spaces, and number of words).

Creative Time

Using recycled materials make your own castle or a castle diorama (like how we made our dinosaur dioramas). You could draw and cut out cardboard characters, use a cardboard box to make the castle.

Make a story map of the book. Can you draw all the events in the right order? Use your story map to retell the story.

 

10.30 – 11.30

Creative time

Can you create your own castle? You could use construction blocks, Lego, or maybe use your furniture to make a really big castle! Take a photo to upload onto tapestry. You can video yourself to explain it in detail.

 

 

 

1.30 – 2.00

Maths

Use a ruler or blocks to measure different items in your house. You could measure your castle. Can you use read the number of centimetres on your ruler?
