Community

At Western House Academy, we are deeply committed to building strong, lasting connections with our local community.

Through our vibrant partnerships with Slough Borough Council and SEGRO, our Year 6 pupils were invited to design a dedicated community allotment patch as part of their 2025 legacy project.

Following the completion of the site built by SEGRO, our Head Pupils and Green Team attended the grand opening to see their creative designs transformed into reality. The site features:

• High raised beds tailored specifically for wheelchair access

• Bug hotels and a three-tier composting system

• A dedicated greenhouse, fruit trees, and vegetable growing plots

During the opening, our pupils got straight to work sowing wildflower seeds and seasonal vegetables.

Now, our environmental journey continues to flourish. The Green Team will be returning on a regular basis to maintain the site, care for the crops, and plan future projects. Looking ahead, we aim to harvest fresh, organic produce to share with both our school kitchen and the wider community, fostering sustainability awareness across the community.
