Principal update 18th May 2021

PRINCIPAL UPDATE – MAY 2021

18th May 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you are well. As we near the end of another term, I thought it was important to give you some updates and our plans for the final term. The government have now entered step 3 of the lockdown easing. The Park Federation will keep social distancing requirements established at WHA since we re-opened on 8th March. This means parents and carers are still expected to socially distance and wear face masks whilst they are on school grounds.

Since returning, our children have been so engaged with their learning. I had the pleasure of ‘showing off’ our wonderful school to our CEO Dr Young and he was impressed with how focused the children were in their lessons and the quality of learning that was happening.

After the May half term, we will no longer be having an extended day on a Tuesday. This decision has been made following careful assessment of the needs of the children and staff. The collection time on a Tuesday remains the same as a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The current after school social clubs will not be carried forward into next term. This will enable us to run some important staff development training. However, we are currently looking at the possibility of reintroducing clubs in September.

Following recent Parent Governor elections, congratulations to Ms Chana who has been re-elected as Parent Governor for a second term. Thank you to all our parents who stood for election.

I have been able to review the parent questionnaires on our Lockdown provision and thank you to our parents who took the time to complete the questionnaire. This has given us a good insight to the provision we provided from the view of a parent, and should we ever have another lockdown, there are some good suggestions about what we should continue with and the changes we could make.

Communication is really important to us and we have launched a new Wellbeing Newsletter that will be issued once a month and we continue to send weekly year group newsletters.

Finally, just a reminder that we will have INSET days on Friday 28th May and Monday 7th June. The Term finishes on Thursday 27th May and we will see the children back in school on Tuesday 8th June.

Fondest regards,

Mrs Snowden

Principal
